LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Joe Hune, R-Fowlerville, issued the following statement Tuesday after Gov. Rick Snyder delivered his 2017 State of the State address:
“It was an honor to attend the seventh State of the State address delivered by Governor Snyder. The governor addressed the highlights of how far our state has come since 2010 as well as the challenges that we still face.
“Our economic comeback story continues to get even better, with more than 475,000 new private sector jobs since 2010. The unemployment rate has dropped nearly ten points since its high in June of 2009, and reports are swirling of many new jobs being created. Personal income growth is up, home values are surging, and Michigan’s population has increased five years in a row.
“The governor also stressed the importance of investing in education. My colleagues and I have made it a top priority to ensure that all children have access to good quality schools. As well, the governor addressed the need to improve Michigan’s infrastructure. I will continue to look for ways that we can address this critical issue.
“In the year ahead, I look forward to continue serving the residents of the 22nd Senate District. There is a lot of positive momentum behind us as we look forward to the year ahead of us.”
