LANSING, Mich. State Sen. Joe Hune, R-Hamburg, was named the most conservative member of the Michigan Legislature by Inside Michigan Politics with a 100 percent conservative voting record. He is also the only member of the Legislature to have a perfect voting attendance.

“It is an honor to be named the most conservative member of the Legislature for a fourth time,” Hune said. “I’m glad my record of opposing unnecessary spending and fighting to reduce the tax burden on the hardworking residents of our state has been recognized.”

Hune previously was named “Most Conservative” in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Hune’s perfect conservative rating was based on the voting records of all 148 members of the Michigan Legislature.

LANSINGState Sen. Joe Hune, R-Hamburg, participated in a lapel-pinning ceremony at the state Capitol on Wednesday.

Hune presented Alfred “Jack” Armstrong of Saline with a Vietnam veteran lapel pin. Armstrong served as an Airman first class in the U.S. Air Force.

“I am humbled and honored to present Mr. Armstrong with his lapel pin,” Hune said. “My commitment to serving our veterans is one of the most important duties I have as senator. It was a privilege to be able to participate in this important event.”

The pinning ceremony was a follow-up to the Thank You Michigan Vietnam Era Veterans event held at the Capitol on Oct. 8, which Armstrong was unable to attend. The pins honor all Vietnam veterans, whether they served in-country, in-theater, or were stationed elsewhere during the Vietnam War period.
